Use of automatic transmission (AT)

On considered cars 5-step AT supervised by the electronic control unit is established. The lever of the selector of AT modes is located in the lower part of the central console.

Lever of the selector of AT modes and switches of the SPORT and WINTER programs

All transfers of advance it is switched automatically if the lever of the selector of AT modes is in situation "D".

For moving of the lever of the selector from the provision of "P" ignition should be included, the brake pedal is squeezed out, and also the button of removal of fixing (under the handle) is pressed.

Movings of the lever of the selector for which implementation it is required to press the button of removal of fixing, are specified illustrations.

Use of the button of removal of fixing

AT programs

Three programs of work of AT are provided: normal, sports and winter.

The normal program gets out automatically at start of the engine and provides the maximum economy of fuel.

The sports program is intended for receiving the maximum capacity from the engine and, therefore, at this program there is later switching on raising transfers and earlier – on lowering. Inclusion and switching off of the sports program is made by pressing the button "S" located on the handle of the lever of the selector of AT modes. At the activated sports program burns corresponding To/l in a combination of devices (see. Section Combination of devices). Switching off of a sports mode occurs at a P or R mode choice, at engine switching off, at a choice of the winter program, and also at inclusion To/l malfunction of AT.

The winter program is intended for driving on a slippery covering. Thus movement begins with the 3rd transfer. Inclusion and switching off of the winter program is made by the button "W" located to the right of the lever of the selector of AT modes. At the activated winter program burns corresponding To/l in a combination of devices (see. Section Combination of devices). Switching off of a sports mode occurs at a mode "L" choice, at engine switching off, at ATF overheat, and also at inclusion To/l malfunction of AT.

AT functions

The number of AT functions includes the following:

Blocking of moving of the lever of the selector from the situation "P" – for removal of this blocking should be pressed a brake pedal. Sequence of the actions necessary for emergency removal of this blocking see below.

Hydrotransformer shutdown on transfers with 3 on 5 – at the expense of it decreases number of turns of the engine and, therefore, and fuel consumption.

At activation of this function there is a feeling of additional gear shifting.

«Kick-down» – transfer Fall at completely squeezed out pedal of gas. This function is used for ensuring the maximum acceleration, for example, when overtaking. After that there is a switching on an overgear if only the pedal of gas is not released till achievement of the maximum number of turns.

AT operating modes

Switching on lowering transfers on the slippery road is not recommended.

«P» (Parking)

In the AT this situation it is blocked, and forward wheels cannot rotate. Before transferring the selector lever to this situation, completely stop the car.

Moving of the lever of the selector to the situation "P" at the moving car will cause blocking of forward wheels and loss of controllability of the car, and also will lead to transmission damage. Do not use the situation "P" instead of the parking brake – they should be shared.

«R» (Movement by a backing)  

This position of the lever of the AT selector is used for movement back.

In order to avoid transmission damage before inclusion of transfer of a backing make sure that the car is completely stopped. After inclusion of the mode "R" wait, that transfer was included into gearing (it is felt on draft of the engine).

«N» (Neutral situation)   

Wheels and transmission are not blocked, the car can be moved freely.

«D» (Movement)  

Normal position of the lever of the selector at car movement. AT is switched between all five transfers of advance, proceeding from an optimum ratio of capacity and economy of fuel.

"4" "//3"  

AT is switched only between transfers with 1 on 4//with 1 on 3. It is used for receiving bigger capacity at movement on lifting, and also for braking by the engine at movement on descent. The choice of this situation also helps to reduce a proskalzyvaniye of wheels on the slippery road. The top limit of speed of movement at the chosen mode "4" "//3" makes 150//110 km/h.

Do not exceed the most admissible speed of movement since it leads to an overheat and AT breakage. It is not necessary to transfer the lever of the selector to situation "4" "//3" at speeds above according to 150//110 km/h.

«L» (Lowering transfer)  

Establish the selector lever in this situation at big loading, and also at movement on a steep slope. In this mode 1 and 2 transfers work only. At mode "L" inclusion after the "D" fall of transfers occurs at the next speeds:

Emergency removal of blocking of the lever of the selector in the situation "P"

For safety of the driver and passengers of AT it is equipped with system of the blocking preventing moving of the lever of the selector from the situation "P" if the brake pedal is not squeezed out.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. For moving of the lever of the selector of the situation "P" squeeze out and hold a brake pedal. Then start the engine or turn the ignition key in the situation "ON", press a clamp of the lever of the selector, located under its handle, and move the lever to demanded situation. As well for key extraction from the ignition lock the lever of the selector should be in the situation "P".
  2. If at performance described above actions to move the selector lever from the situation "P" it was not possible, act in the following sequence.
  1. Cock the parking brake, include ignition and a thin subject press the small button located in front to the left of the lever of the selector of AT modes. Transfer the lever to the situation "P" or "N" and release the button.
  1. After removal of blocking check a safety lock 1 in the main assembly block and if necessary replace it. If the safety lock is whole, the voltage reduction could become the reason of blocking of the lever of the selector. If the reason of blocking is not defined, address on HUNDRED Saabs.
